Employee Resource Groups (ERG for short) are collaborative networks of faculty and staff. Their shared goal is to enhance the University’s culture, making UM a place where everyone feels welcomed, valued, and able to add value. ERGs are open to all faculty and staff.

  • Disability Network Alliance (DNA)

    The Disability Network Alliance builds an environment that enhances the experiences of faculty, staff and the broader community regardless of abilities by:

    • Increasing the recruitment, development, and retention of individuals with disabilities
    • Raising awareness of the challenges individuals with disabilities may encounter
    • Advocating for accessibility improvements throughout the University
    • Increasing the availability of University and community resources

  • LGBTQ Faculty-Staff Network

    Established in 2013, The LGBTQ Faculty and Staff Network builds community through education, advocacy, and a regular schedule of social engagement and networking programs.

  • Ubuntu

    Established in 2014, Ubuntu celebrates African and Caribbean culture at the University of Miami. Ubuntu provides a vehicle for faculty and staff to engage with one another around topics of interest to the UM Afro-Caribbean community.

  • Veterans Unite

    Established in 2019, Veterans Unite strives to enhance the professional experience of all those who have served our country through guidance, support, and encouragement so that we continue to make a positive difference.

    Veterans Unite contributes to the University’s culture of belonging by:

    • Building community among the University's military veteran population
    • Providing personal and professional development opportunities
    • Partnering with other Veteran organizations for outreach and support

  • Women’s Commission

    Founded in 1971 by a group of eleven strong women united in purpose, the Women's Commission is committed to:

    • encouraging a general awareness of women's needs and interests
    • developing educational opportunities about issues confronting women

    The Commission has transformed lives through creating educational opportunities bringing students, faculty and staff together to learn about women’s needs and interests. Past events have included Get Out the Vote’s: Decoding the Ballot, Zeta Tau Alpha’s Breast Cancer Awareness Week, and a lunch and learn focused on the Family and Medical Leave Act.

  • Women in Academic Medicine (WIAM)

    The Women in Academic Medicine (WIAM) group at the Miller School of Medicine was formally and voluntarily established in 2008. WIAM is currently led by Sharon Andrade-Bucknor, M.D., WIAM president, and Stuti Dang, M.D., M.P.H., WIAM vice president.

    We work to:

    • Promote clinical, scientific, and teaching excellence.
    • Increase representation, participation, and leadership.
    • Advance strategies to enhance the recruitment, retention, and professional advancement.
    • Provide faculty development, mentorship, and support.
    • Create and promote a positive, healthy work environment.
    • Advance leadership development program

  • Woodson-Williams-Marshall Association (WWMA)

    The Woodson-Williams-Marshall Association (WWMA) was started in 1973 and provides a space for Black faculty and staff to engage with one another and address issues relevant to the UM Black community. Additionally, WWMA sponsors programs and events that support the student population and highlight the achievements of Black faculty and staff.

    The mission of the Young Professionals Network (YPN) is to connect young professionals with their peers across the university, cultivate relationships with experienced professionals, and engage the community through volunteer service.
